After receiving the application and complaint, the Ombudsman of Georgia independently makes a decision to start the examination.

How is your application examined?

The Public Defender informs the applicant about the considered decision.

If the Ombudsman decides to open a verification case, she/he may request more information from you or the state institution/s that you have complained about. If needed, he may also request information from other institutions or experts. The Ombudsman can receive all certificates, documents and other materials necessary for the inspection.

How long will it take?

The Ombudsman is not limited in time when considering your application. The time required for reviewing the application depends on the content and complexity of the problem identified in it. Often, due to the request for additional documentation related to the complaint from other agencies, the time required for the consideration of the complaint is extended.
