Complaints about violations of human rights

The Ombudsman can investigate complaints about potential human rights violations and determine whether your human rights have been violated. Read more about the complaint procedure

Complaints about discrimination

Where you feel that you have been unfairly discriminated against by a state institution or by a private entity, you should complain to the Ombudsman by submitting an application. The Ombudsman can evaluate whether this type of discrimination has occurred and prepare an appropriate recommendation.

Activities:

  • Protecting the rights and legal interests of a person in the case of a human rights violation
  • Ensuring equal treatment and the prevention of discrimination
  • Examine the situation with regard to the protection of human rights and freedoms in custody and pre-trial detention facilities, as well as in other places of restriction of liberty
  • Monitoring mechanism for the Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities
  • Supervising protection of child's rights and freedoms and promoting realisation of the rights, as well as encouraging changes to the procedures and laws for the children’s welfare and raising public awareness on the child's rights
  • Identify human rights violations in the conflict-affected and occupied regions, ensure timely response to them and take preventive measures
  • Education and awareness rising in society regarding human rights standards and protection mechanisms.
